Zurich Airport: Additional Calibration Flights 2026
At Zurich Airport, calibration flights are taking place for the commissioning of the new glide path transmitter on runway 28. They will be held between 8 and 19 June in the afternoon and sometimes at night until 02:00 at the latest.
This spring, the glide path transmitter was replaced as part of the instrument landing system for the eastern approach to runway 28. In order for the new transmitter to be handed over to operation, it must be extensively tested and inspected. The necessary calibration flights will take place between 8 and 19 June 2026 in the afternoon and at night by two o'clock at the latest. This was already communicated in the media release of 5 March 2026.
All calibration flights will be carried out using a twin-engine turboprop aircraft of the type Beechcraft King Air 350. The aircraft is equipped with state-of-the-art navigation aids and a high-precision flight measurement device. Skyguide air traffic control is responsible for the planning and execution of the flights.
