Edelweiss is expanding its destination portfolio to Giza/Sphinx with two weekly flights from 18 December. From the end of February, Edelweiss will also fly twice a week via Muscat to the Omani coastal city of Salalah and return non-stop. For the first time, Edelweiss will serve the destination Tunis seasonally. Edelweiss thus complements the offer of Tunisair, which flies to the Tunisian capital in the summer flight schedule.

easyJet is expanding its route network: Bordeaux and Manchester will be added to the winter flight schedule. This makes easyJet the second airline after SWISS with connections to these two European cities.

Better connections to the Middle East, Asia and Africa

Etihad is gradually expanding the existing daily connection between Zurich and Abu Dhabi to two flights per day by June 2025. The additional connection in the evening offers passengers even more travel options to the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Australia.

Cathay Pacific is also expanding its offering and will again fly daily to Hong Kong over the course of the winter. Ethiopian will also increase the frequency to Addis Ababa from the end of October 2024 and serve the route daily.

Air India will continue the direct connection to the metropolis of New Delhi, which was introduced in the summer, in the winter months. Air India's evening flight from Zurich with four weekly flights complements SWISS's daily service to the Indian capital.

Oman Air has been flying to Muscat again since October 5 and offers up to five flights per week in the winter flight schedule, the last time Oman Air flew to Zurich Airport at the end of March 2024.

Season extensions of various destinations 

In 2025, the new SWISS summer destinations Seoul and Toronto will be served from the beginning and middle of March respectively – instead of the start of the summer flight schedule at the end of March. SWISS will also continue to fly to Cluj-Napoca in Romania and Košice in Slovakia, which were added in the summer, three times a week and London Gatwick daily.

GP Aviation will continue to fly daily to the Zurich – Pristina route, which was launched in the summer, in the winter flight schedule, thus offering an alternative to Edelweiss and Chair.

Eurowings will continue the connection to the German capital Berlin in winter according to the summer flight schedule with up to 11 weekly flights.

Edelweiss, for its part, will now offer a connection to Djerba twice a week in the winter. Edelweiss is also extending the season for the destinations of Bilbao, Ibiza, Antalya and Cagliari. Split and Faro will be served all year round for the first time. Edelweiss will also be adding the Bogotá and Cartagena routes as early as 3 November.

Nordic destinations remain popular

The winter destinations in the north are still popular, which is why Edelweiss is increasing the frequencies to Finland and Norway in the winter flight schedule: Edelweiss is now increasing its offer to Tromsø with five flights per week. For the first time, Edelweiss is also offering scheduled flights to Kittilä and Rovaniemi in Finland. In addition, Kuusamo and Ivalo will be served from mid-December to the beginning and end of March, respectively.

The 2024/25 winter flight schedule will last until 29 March 2025.

Temporary postponement of check-in locations

Last winter, the first half of the baggage conveyor belts in Check-in 1 at Zurich Airport was replaced. During this year's winter flight schedule, the second part of the belts will be replaced. As a result, some check-in locations will be relocated during the renovation phase from 29 October to 19 March 2025. 

Passengers of SWISS, Lufthansa, Aegean, Austrian Airlines, Edelweiss Air, Brussels Airlines and Croatia Airlines will be served in Check-in 1 or 3, depending on the travel class: Check-in for Economy and Premium Economy guests will only take place in Check-in 3 during the conversion period. During the renovation phase, a same-day ticket office will be available in Check-in 3 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Check-in 1 continues to house the counters for all First, HON, Senator, Star Gold, Business and Frequent Travellers guests. Check-in for PRM care, animals in a kennel (AVIH) and unaccompanied minors (UMNR) of all flight classes also takes place in Check-in 1. For Vueling and easyJet passengers, temporary counters are available in Check-in 2.

The conversion of the baggage conveyor belts in Check-in 1 is necessary because the belts have reached the end of their life cycle.
