Zurich Airport was chosen for the arrival and departure of the delegations travelling to the Summit on Peace by plane. In addition to the already heavy traffic scheduled this weekend, this places an additionally heave burden on operations and infrastructure at Zurich Airport. The arrivals and departures of summit participants expected within a short period of time may have an impact on the punctuality of scheduled services.

Passengers and people picking up travellers are advised to check the airport website in advance for any delays. The journey to the airport and passenger processes like check-in and security control can be planned as usual.

The observation decks will remain closed from 14 to 16 June due to the high security requirements. Public airport tours will not take place. Additional security measures are also to be expected along the airport fence.

Flights outside operating hours

Residents living in the vicinity of Zurich Airport must expect an increased volume of traffic during the summit on peace. In order to facilitate the arrival and departure of the participating state delegations by plane in addition to ongoing flight operations, the Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA) has adjusted the night flight restrictions at Zurich Airport for the nights of 15/16 June and 16/17 June 2024. Any delayed scheduled flights can take off and land until 02:00 a.m. without special authorisation. In addition, the FOCA will allow unlimited flights for state aircrafts during the two nights. According to the FOCA, only a few flights after 02:00 a.m. are to be expected. It may also be necessary to change operating concepts on the weekend of the summit on peace if the traffic situation so requires.
