China Eastern's first flight from Shanghai landed in Zurich
On Thursday, 18 June 2026, at 7:49 a.m., a China Eastern aircraft landed at Zurich Airport for the first time. With the launch of the connection to Shanghai, the range of direct flights between Switzerland and Mainland China is expanded.
China Eastern flies the route between Zurich and Shanghai three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Departure from Zurich will be at 2:05 p.m., arriving in Shanghai the following day at 6:40 a.m. In the opposite direction, the flight will take off from Shanghai at 01:55 a.m. and reach Zurich at 07:55 a.m.
Shanghai is currently the only destination on the Mainland China that is served directly from Zurich. Shanghai is one of China's most important industrial and commercial centres. The metropolis combines modern urban development with historic quarters and attracts both business and leisure travellers. In addition to China Eastern, Swiss International Air Lines also serves the route. The new connection further strengthens Switzerland's connection to one of the most important economic areas in Asia.
