Zurich Airport News Flash No. 11 / Zurich Airport reviews its company's structures
Summary
In the past months Zurich Airport has made an extensive review of its activities. As a result, cost savings were identified, which also include the reduction of specific functions. The reduction of these functions will be realized by natural fluctuation as far as possible. Whether dismissals need to take place in individual cases is currently not decided.
Zurich Airport is a mixed-economy, listed company, which needs to ensure it maintains its competitive position in the international environment. The company was able to present successful results during previous years, also in a challenging environment. However, in order to remain successful in the long term, existing processes need to be periodically reviewed and potential cost savings identified. During the extensive review of the last months various cost saving measures were identified. Among many other measures, the reduction of approximately 60 full-time functions will be made.
It is the objective to realize this reduction by natural fluctuation and internal moves. By the end of the year the company will decide whether dismissals are required in individual cases. Should this be the case, a social-compensation plan, which is agreed with the social partners, exists.
The cost savings account for approximately 10 million Swiss Francs on a recurring basis as of the first quarter 2011. With above measures Zurich Airport prepares for future challenges. The company continues to focus on its core business as an airport operator as well as on its strategic focus in the national and international activities and the real estate project “The Circle”. Zurich Airport continues to keep its focus on quality for passengers and customers.
