Zurich Airport News Flash No. 10 / Opening of First Arrival Duty Free Shop at Zurich Airport
Summary
As of today, not only departing but also arriving passenger can profit of duty free shopping at Zurich Airport. On June 1st, 2011, the first arrival duty free shop with 650m2 of sales area is opening in Arrival 2.
Today, the first of two arrival duty free shops is opening at Zurich Airport. As of now, passengers can buy duty free goods like spirits, tobacco products and perfumes after arriving in Zurich.
A second arrival duty free shop with a sales area of 1’100m2 is scheduled to open in July 2011 in Arrival 1. The arrival duty free sales areas are operated by The Nuance Group AG. With the two new stores around 60 new jobs will be generated at Zurich Airport .
On April 20th, 2011, the Federal Council gave its green light for the opening of arrival duty free shops in Switzerland by implementing a corresponding federal law on purchasing products in duty free stores at airports (Bundesgesetz über den Einkauf von Waren in Zollfreiläden an Flughäfen) coming into effect June 1st, 2011. The duty free exemptions and limits remain unchanged.
