Charity Water raises CHF 106,370 for the Verein Werkstätte Drahtzug
From June to August 2026, CHF 106,370 was raised for the Werkstätte Drahtzug association through the sale of “Charity Water” at the duty-free locations at Zurich Airport. Through this joint project, Zurich Airport Ltd. Avolta regularly support different charitable organisations. Since September 2026, the Swiss Muscle Society has been the beneficiary.
Since 2014, Avolta’s duty-free shops (formerly Dufry) at Zurich Airport have been selling Swiss mineral water for CHF 2.50 per bottle. For every bottle sold, CHF 0.50 is donated to a charitable organisation.

During the summer months, the Werkstätte Drahtzug association was the beneficiary of the Charity Water project. During this period, travellers purchased 212,740 bottles of Charity Water, generating donations of CHF 106,370 for the Zurich-based association. Werkstätte Drahtzug supports people with mental health conditions on their journey back into working life and towards living independently. Through supported employment, training and integration programmes, Drahtzug creates opportunities for those affected and promotes their social and professional participation.
“Together, many travellers have made a significant difference. We would like to sincerely thank the airport for this valuable support and this strong sign of solidarity,” says Beatrice Roth, Managing Director of the Werkstätte Drahtzug association.

Currently: Support for the Swiss Muscle Society
Since September 2026 and until the end of the year, proceeds from the sale of Charity Water will benefit the Swiss Muscle Society. Based in Winterthur, the organisation supports people with muscle diseases and their families, particularly in areas where their needs have not yet been met or have only been inadequately addressed. Through social counselling, self-help groups, respite services, courses, and leisure and holiday programmes, the Swiss Muscle Society enables those affected to lead lives that are as independent and equal as possible.
